As part of our ongoing MANTHAN series, which fosters knowledge exchange, problem-solving, and collaboration among Jalandhar Eco City-Regions Fellows, we conducted MANTHAN 3.0 on October 6, 2024. This session focused on exploring measures and solutions for Non-Motorized Transport (NMT) within the Model Town Area of Jalandhar.
The session was led by Rajiv Malagi, Program Manager – Sustainable Cities & Transport, WRI India, who emphasized the need for a holistic and regional approach to address NMT challenges. Key takeaways for the Fellows included the importance of conducting feasibility studies to ensure that proposed NMT solutions are not only visually appealing but also practical and financially viable.
Additionally, the session highlighted the critical role of addressing parking-related challenges as part of a comprehensive transportation strategy, ensuring a well-rounded and sustainable approach to mobility in the region.
