Inception Workshop Held on Regional Spatial Strategy for Bodoland

Overview

Date: 25th and 26th July

The WRI India team successfully concluded a two-day Inception Workshop at the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Secretariat in Kokrajhar on 25th and 26th July. The workshop brought together senior officials, department heads, national experts, and representatives from civil society organizations to collaboratively explore opportunities for sustainable development in the region.

A key highlight of the workshop was the use of a 3D terrain model, which showcased Bodoland’s unique geography, including its peaks, rivers, and terrain. This model offered a detailed perspective on the region’s topography, emphasizing both its opportunities and challenges. As a knowledge and technical partner, WRI India is actively supporting the co-creation of a Regional Spatial Strategy for the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).

The workshop featured several participatory activities, including:

  •  A SWOT analysis exercise to evaluate Bodoland’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.
  • A collaborative session on mapping the region’s core values and principles to align shared goals and priorities.

The event concluded with a briefing to Shri Akash Deep (IAS), Principal Secretary of BTC, summarizing the workshop’s findings and next steps. This was followed by a meeting with Shri Pramad Boro, Chief Executive Member of BTR, where the key outcomes and future strategies for developing the regional spatial strategy were presented.

The workshop marked a significant step forward in fostering a sustainable and inclusive vision for Bodoland.
