Delhi, India’s capital, is a dense and dynamic megacity shaped by rapid urbanization, economic growth, and environmental challenges. With the Yamuna River running through its heart, the city faces critical issues related to water security, pollution, and ecological degradation. Once a vital lifeline, the river now struggles with poor water quality, disrupted flow regimes, and encroachment, making sustainable water management an urgent priority. As Delhi continues to expand, balancing urban development with ecological restoration is key to ensuring long-term resilience.
We work closely with the Department of Irrigation & Flood Control (I&FC), Delhi, to strengthen river management and rejuvenation efforts. Through comprehensive mapping and data analysis, we assess the impact of various Yamuna restoration measures and provide knowledge-driven support to enhance decision-making. Our research design captures the actions and outcomes of past interventions, helping to identify effective, scalable solutions for improving the river’s flow and water quality while aligning with the city’s sustainability goals.
