Launch of Jalandhar Eco-City Region Fellowship Programme

August 2023: WRI India proudly supported and mentored 12 fellows under the Eco City-Region Fellowship Jalandhar (ECRFJ), an initiative hosted by Smart City Jalandhar Limited. Launched on August 1, 2023, the fellowship has empowered young leaders to contribute to sustainable development in their communities.

Over the past month, fellows have undertaken impactful fieldwork, including:

  • Conducting field surveys for pond revival and recharge using treated wastewater.
  • Mapping accessibility to services in informal settlements.
  • Developing strategies to improve solid waste management through multi-stakeholder engagement.

Mentorship and Training Highlights:

The fellowship emphasizes collaboration, with fellows receiving guidance from mentors from Municipal Corporation Jalandhar, Jalandhar Smart City Limited, and WRI India. Weekly mentorship sessions provide fellows with sectoral insights and opportunities to discuss ongoing initiatives, potential projects, and career aspirations.
