What is the ECR Forum about?

It is an inclusive platform for collaborative initiatives, peer-to peer learning and knowledge exchange.

The forum is committed towards advancing sustainable and resilient urban development across local, regional, and national scales.

Focus Areas

Supporting partner members in three verticals.
Strategic Spatial Planning
                   

Proactive and strategic coordination of policies, plans, projects and investments that influence spatial development to manage sustainable and resilient growth, enhance quality of life, and enable economic prosperity for all.

Urban Infrastructure and Services

Technical support for developing alternatives to grey infrastructure such as nature- based solutions, among other approaches

Ecosystems and Livelihoods

Explore, document and shape resilient livelihoods of diverse communities dependent on natural ecosystems, especially under the lens of a changing climate.

How Will the Forum Engage?

Through four key modes to allow co-learning and building collaborative approaches for on-ground impact
Peer to Peer Learning

WHAT: By convening experts, change makers and introducing systems approach to address challenges, while showcasing best practices adopted by partners locally and globally.

HOW: Immersive Field Visits and Workshops, Focused Group Discussions, Regional and National Conferences.

Building Awareness and Capacity

WHAT: To expand knowledge, provide support and increase motivation for the uptake of eco-city region approaches in policies, plans and project outlays.

HOW: Targeted Trainings and Workshops, Regional and National Conferences, Knowledge Products.

Arrange Expert Talks and Masterclasss

WHAT: Curated and contextual, inter-disciplinary engagements by leading domain experts on diverse subjects and interest areas such as urban ecology, governance, systems thinking, and regional spatial planning.

HOW: Webinars and In-person Events.

Engaging Networking & Broadcasting

WHAT: Documenting and disseminating partner member efforts, while further promoting and scaling collective action towards common goals through the eco-city regions approach.

HOW: Regional and National Conferences, Digital Documentation, Publications, Knowledge Products, Press and Social Media Releases.

Who is Involved?

Steering Committee

It sets the overarching tone for achieving outcomes through the forum, aligned with the eco city-regions vision and goals. The committee oversees the activities of the secretariat, regional coordinators and reviews outcomes.

The secretariat is entrusted with managing day-to-day operations of the forum, planning engagements, maintaining correspondences with stakeholders, partner cities and forging potential collaborations.
